Estrela Consulting Founder, Kristina Dooley, was selected to serve on the faculty of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) Summer Training Institute (STI) being held this week at Swarthmore College (PA). STI is an intensive, hands-on, training program designed for those seeking to establish an independent educational consulting practice. The training and curriculum offered is viewed as the best available for those entering the profession. Attendees hail from all over the world and have backgrounds in such fields as counseling, education, business, law, health care, and school/college admissions.
This is Dooley's fifth year serving as a member of the eight-person faculty. Her courses include topics such as working with international students applying to U.S. colleges and schools, essentials of the day and boarding school admission processes, and using social media as an independent educational consultant.
According to IECA, STI faculty are "nationally recognized IECs" who have been carefully picked from among the nation’s most experienced and successful IECA members and who specialize in the topics they are scheduled to present during the Institute.
The Independent Educational Consultants Association, founded in 1976, is a nonprofit, international association of professional, experienced independent educational consultants. IECA sets the standards, leads the discussion, and serves as the public face of independent educational consulting to the media, colleges, and other professionals. IECA members are pledged to maintain the highest ethical standards in working with students and families.
